Ventura County Sheriff’s officials say a wanted man who collapsed while fleeing from deputies died as a result of a methamphetamine overdose.

Deputies were trying to arrest Miguel Burciaga Junior December 3rd in Saticoy for an outstanding felony warrant.

Ventura County Sheriff's detectives say their investigation into an organized crime ring in the region has led to the arrests of three people for making false documents, and government ID cards for the criminals.

Investigators have been tracking a group of Chilean nationals who have been committing identity theft and burglaries in Ventura County.  They learned the criminals were using the counterfeit identification to stay in the United States, and to obtain housing and credit.

The new stay-at-home orders for Southern California, which includes the Central and South Coasts, have again raised the issue of compliance.

Ventura County Sheriff  Bill Ayub says his department will continue its ongoing COVID-19 policy focused on education of violators, as opposed to citations.

Authorities are investigating an incident in Ventura County which has left one person dead, and a second seriously injured. Officers were called to a home on the 900 block of Woodlawn Drive in Thousand Oaks just after two Tuesday afternoon. They found a woman and a man with significant wounds. The woman later died at a hospital.

Authorities say they’ve caught four people responsible for some brazen organized thefts from a store on the South Coast. Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies the four people entered a designer shoe store at the Camarillo Premium Outlets, and filled bags with expensive shoes. They then fled.

A South Coast city is getting a new police chief. Ventura County Sheriff’s Captain Jose Rivera will be Ojai’s new top law enforcement officer. Rivera has been with the Sheriff’s Office for nearly three decades.

A South Coast city is getting a new police chief, and it’s someone who is already a familiar face in the region. Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Commander James Fryhoff is going to be the new Thousand Oaks Police Chief. Fryoff is currently Ojai’s Police Chief.

A longtime South Coast law enforcement officer and police chief is retiring. Commander Tim Hagel has been Thousand Oaks Police Chief for six years, and a member of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office for more than 30.

Authorities have arrested a man and a woman for a string of burglaries in a remote area of Ventura County.

Beginning in June, a series of break-ins was reported in the Lockwood Valley area, north of Ojai.

Ventura County Sheriff’s investigators say they’ve arrested one of the agency’s deputies following allegations he sexually assaulted a female inmate. An inmate at Ventura County’s Pre-Trial Detention Facility told a staff member that she had been inappropriately touched by a deputy while being held in an isolated area of the complex.
