A Central Coast museum has come up with a unique answer to the COVID-19 health safety orders which have kept it closed for most of the last year.  The Wildling Museum of Art and Nature sits on Mission Drive, in Solvang.  Unlike most museums, it has huge windows allowing you to look inside.  So, they came up with an idea.  Maybe people can’t go in, but they can look in.

One of the smallest cities on the Central Coast is dealing with some big-time politics this week.

A man wanted for a bank robbery on the Central Coast has been arrested in Missouri. On June 13th, a man passed a threatening note to a teller at a Solvang bank, and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt, but the man was able to flee before he was caught.

A Central Coast city is getting a new City Manager. The Solvang City Council selected David Gassaway as its new top manager. Gassaway comes from Indian Wells, which is near Palm Springs.

A damaged gas line has led to some evacuations in a Central Coast community.

Santa Barbara County firefighters say a construction crew working in the area of Mission Drive and Alamo Pintado Road in Solvang caused the accident.

A just released report by the Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s office says the February, 2016 fatal shooting of a man who had kidnapped a teenage girl, and fired shots at Sheriff’s deputies was justified.

Investigators say Fernando Castro abducted a 15 year old girl in Vallejo. He was then spotted driving on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara County. He fired at officers on two separate occasions, and was shot to death in Solvang as he drove a stolen truck in the direction of some officers while firing at them.

A man wanted in a child abduction case in Northern California has been shot to death in a confrontation with Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies spotted a car heading southbound on Highway 101 near Los Alamos at around 3 p.m. which matched the description of a vehicle wanted in a Solano County Amber alert case. When they tried to stop the vehicle, it sped off, leading to a chase which ended near a trailer park on Val Verde Street in Solvang.
