    SBCAG is inviting you to a Train Lunch and Learn at the Santa Barbara Train Station. Tour the train station, learn about shuttle connections, collect free sway and see how the new train serving peak commute times can make your life easier.

    Employees commuting from Ventura County and Carpinteria to Santa Barbara are especially encouraged to attend.

    Free lunch will be provided on a first some first served basis.

  • CALPACS members and the general community are cordially invited to our Fall Luncheon. This year, we will host James Rogers of Apeel for a lecture on a plant-based, edible, produce-protecting polymers that dramatically extend the shelf life of fresh fruits and vegetables. James will detail the discovery, development, and commercialization of these polymers into the agricultural business. The event will include appetizers and a three course lunch. A no-host bar provides beer, wine and cocktails. The annual open session of the CALPACS Executive Committee meeting will follow immediately after the talk.

  • A free online meeting opens the LOOKS campaign on 1 December 2026 at 9:00 Pacific Time (18:00 CET). It runs two hours, it is free and no registration is needed.

    LOOKS is a documentary project about appearance and aesthetics whose factual foundation is oral health. The project asks what a face is made of, what shapes it while a person is growing, and why so little of that knowledge ever reaches the people it describes.

    The meeting introduces the project, its educational mission and the material it publishes. The campaign includes a feature documentary and an online series, alongside a free educational section written for readers with no medical background.

    Producer: Pawel Lipka, whose earlier credits include animation for The Garfield Show and visual effects for the feature film Suicide Room.

  • The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Santa Barbara/Ventura County Chapter (AFP) is celebrating National Philanthropy Day on November 12, when it will pay tribute to individuals, organizations, and businesses who give their time and resources for the enrichment and benefit of our local communities. Held nationally across the country since 1987, the local National Philanthropy Day will be celebrated with a reception and dinner at the Rincon Beach Club (3811 Santa Claus Lane) in Carpinteria from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Awards will be given to the Philanthropist of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Youth in Philanthropy and other community-minded individuals and institutions.   • The UC Master Gardeners of Ventura County, in partnership with Calleguas Municipal Water District, will host their annual California Native Plant Sale on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, or while supplies last, at Calleguas Municipal Water District in Thousand Oaks.

    Fall is the perfect time to plant California natives so they can become established with the help of winter rains. All proceeds support the free gardening classes and community programs offered by the UC Master Gardeners of Ventura County.
