Field Day is amateur radio's open house. Every June, more than 31,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.

Acclaimed playwright Mayer’s serious comedy underscores the importance of family, friendships, girl power, and how terribly things can go awry when we place the bottom line at the top of the list. “Angel” also fulfills Mayer’s lifelong crusade against ambulance chasers, those predators whose faces leer down at us from every billboard in town, as he introduces the angel of an attorney (yes, there is such a thing) who's on a mission to chase them off the road.

ANGEL reunites renowned playwright Jerry Mayer with veteran (and frequent Mayer) director Chris DeCarlo. Original music is by Steve Mayer. The stellar cast features DeCarlo (Author! Author!, Mistakes Were Made), Summer Moran (Off-Broadway: Ebb&Flow, Breaking the Internet LIVE!), Natasha Renae Potts (The Impact of Dildos on a Funeral, Romeo and Juliet, Branwell and the other Brontes) and Brian Tyson (Misery, Henry VI, Hand of God).

94-year-old playwright Jerry Mayer, who has written for M*A*S*H, The Bob Newhart Show, All in the Family, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Facts of Life (where he was executive producer) and five of Mitzi Gaynor’s TV Specials, never shies away from tackling the big issues and MY LAWYER IS AN ANGEL is no exception.

Chris DeCarlo, Playhouse Co-Artistic Director, has helmed 12 of Mayer’s world premiere comedies. Says DeCarlo, "Experiencing a Jerry Mayer play brings us that much closer to the realization that turning the frown upside down is the best way to navigate through life’s most serious issues, big or small.”

Spanish guitarist and Latin Grammy winner Twanguero (Diego García) returns to Ventura for an intimate solo performance at NAMBA Arts Center. Blending Spanish folk traditions, Latin American rhythms, and American roots influences, Twanguero creates a musical journey that has earned praise from NPR, Guitar Player, and audiences worldwide. A rare opportunity to experience one of today's most distinctive guitarists in an intimate listening-room setting.

Since 2007, UCSB Reads has fostered a shared sense of belonging by bringing the UCSB campus and Santa Barbara communities together to read a common book that explores compelling issues of our time. Conceived by then Executive Vice Chancellor Gene Lucas, the program is led by the UCSB Library in collaboration with campus and community partners. Each year, a committee of UCSB faculty, students, staff, and community members selects a thought-provoking, interdisciplinary book written by a living author that encourages a wide range of readers to engage with a contemporary social, political, cultural or scientific issue such as climate change, racial justice, technology, memory, identity, and democracy.

The program kicks off in winter with a book giveaway for UCSB students led by the Chancellor, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, and University Librarian, and culminates with a free public talk by the book’s author(s) at Campbell Hall in the spring. Throughout the winter and spring quarters, the Library sponsors a variety of free learning, experiential, and social events to explore the book’s themes. The selected book is also incorporated into the university curriculum for winter and spring, allowing students to explore its themes in an academic context. UCSB Reads is generously supported by many individuals, university departments, and organizations.

This exhibition highlights the history of UCSB Reads since its inception, featuring promotional posters, selected books, custom bookmarks along with testimonials and images of participants engaging with programming throughout the years. UCSB Reads has become a beloved campus tradition that brings together thousands of people every year and demonstrates the power of literature to bridge divides, promote intellectual engagement, and build community.

Long celebrated for its golden light and serene vistas, the Ojai Valley has inspired generations of artists. Ojai Mystique continues this tradition, inviting nineteen artists from across the region and beyond to immerse themselves in the landscape and translate their impressions into two paintings: a large masterwork and a smaller companion piece.
