More than 30,000 people are expected to attend the Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival this weekend.

Kathi King with the Community Environmental Council that puts on the event says this year’s theme is the 50th anniversary of the Santa Barbara Oil Spill.

April 22nd is “Earth Day,” and a number of events are taking place on the Central and South Coasts.

One of the biggest Earth Day events is in Santa Barbara’s Alameda Park, where the event has become so large it is taking place on both Saturday and Sunday. Other events are taking place in Ventura’s Plaza Park, and in San Luis Obispo at El Chorro Regional Park.
