We’re following Dr. Julie Barnes as she prepares to do part of a checkup. Her patient is unusual. It’s a rare snow leopard, normally only seen in Asia. This is part of a typical day for Barnes, who is the Zoo’s Vice President of Animal Care and Health. The veterinary staff at the zoo has a big job, being charged with overseeing the well being of more than 500 animals ranging from gorillas to cobras.

Get ready for a string of storms on the Central and South Coasts. Four storms could sweep through the region between now, and the middle of next week. But, at this point it’s too early to say there could be issues in brush fire burn zones.

Highway 101 in Agoura Hills is completely open again Wednesday morning, after a plane crash on the highway shut down parts of it for nearly 10 hours Tuesday.

A World War II vintage trainer had engine problems just before two p.m. yesterday, and the pilot made an emergency landing on the westbound 101 near the Liberty Canyon turnoff. The plane touched down safely, but when the pilot tried to avoid a vehicle, it crashed into the center divider and burst into flames.
