Los Angeles Has Rams And Chargers, But For August Oxnard Also Has Its Own Pro Football Team

Los Angeles is home to the NFL’s Rams and Chargers, but Oxnard can currently boast about having its own team. The Dallas Cowboys are continuing a decades old tradition of holding a summer training camp in Ventura County. Cowboys fans from around the world have been flocking to Oxnard for a chance to see their team up close during free, open public workouts.

The Cowboys have a long history of holding summer training camps in Ventura County, going back to the 1960’s in Thousand Oaks, and in more recent years in Oxnard.

Some people are sitting in bleachers, watching team members go through different drills. Others have passes which allow access to some sideline areas, for a closer look at the action.

The team brings in big mobile stores, were fans can get everything from beer mugs to Cowboys clothing. There’s also a food court which the Cowboys led local schools operate as fundraisers for their program.

The Cowboys final public workout of the year in Oxnard was Wednesday afternoon, at the River Ridge training facility. The Cowboys break camp Thursday as they get ready for the start of the 2019 NFL season.
