New Police Chief On Central Coast

A Central Coast city is getting a new police chief, and it’s someone who is already a familiar face in the community.

Marc Schneider is Santa Maria’s new Chief of Police.

He has nearly three decades of law enforcement experience.  He started his career with the Pismo Beach Police Department, and joined the Santa Maria Police Department in 1995.  Schneider worked his way up through the ranks, serving as a patrol officer, a Sergeant, a Lieutenant, and Division Commander.

He is taking over as Acting Chief this weekend, and will officially become Chief in January.  Schneider fills the vacancy being created by the retirement of Phillip Hansen, who is stepping down after more than seven years with the city.
