An Arizona based university which has focused on heath care for more than 125 years has announced plans to open a new campus on the Central Coast.
A.T. Still University of Health Sciences will open its third campus in Santa Maria.
The university has been looking at locations for a new campus in California for several years. ATSU will rent 25,000 square feet of space in a three story, 90,000 square foot building being built for CoastHills Credit Union.
Plans call for the new campus to open in July of 2020, and initially enroll up to 100 students. It will offer a Physician Assistant program. University officials say the campus will bring new faculty, staff members, and students to the community, and train needed new healthcare professionals for the region.
