Industrial Fire On Central Coast Visible For Miles, But No One Hurt

A fire at a plastics company on the Central Coast put up a huge cloud of smoke visible for miles, and briefly forced the evacuation of several nearby homes.

The fire happened just after 1 p.m. Monday on the 1500 block of Donovan Road in Santa Maria.

Firefighters say the blaze at Composite Plastics started after some resin was spilled during a mixing operation.

No one was hurt, but the building was heavily damaged by the blaze.
