Record Heat For Parts Of Central, South Coasts Monday

A high pressure ridge which brought some record setting temperatures to the Central and South Coast Monday is breaking down, translating into some significant cooling Tuesday.

There were temperatures in the 90’s Monday for much of the region.

Camarillo hit 95, breaking the old record of 87 set a half century ago, in 1968.

Oxnard topped out at 93, eight degrees hotter than the old April 9th record set in 1980. Santa Barbara set a new record, with a high of 87 up from 81 in 1980. And, Santa Maria’s high of 88 tied the city’s all time high for the date set back in 1932.
