Record Heat Hits Central, South Coasts But Wind Drops Enough To Drop Red Flag Brush Fire Warning

We could see more sizzling temperatures for the Central and South Coasts Tuesday, but the brush fire danger has eased.

The wind started to ease Monday afternoon, and a Red Flag Alert for high fire danger in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties was canceled.

Camarillo hit 90 Monday, breaking a record of 85 set in 1971. Santa Maria reached 84, topping the record for this date of 83 set in 1931.

While the heat and wind eased enough to end the Red Flag warning, high temperatures are expected to remain eight to 12 degrees above normal for this time of year through mid-week.
