Deadlines Extended For Woolsey, Hill Fire Victims In Ventura, LA Counties To Apply For Federal Aid

FEMA has extended the deadline for people to apply for federal assistance in the wake of the Woolsey, and Hill brush fires. The new deadline is January 31st. The potential assistance includes disaster grants to homeowners and renters for things like temporary housing.

They are considered to be grants, so they don’t have to be repaid. The grants are also nontaxable, and don’t affect eligibility for Social Security or Medicare.

The deadline for submitting applications for low interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration has also been extended until January 31st.
