Deadliest Day Yet; Ten Coronavirus Related Deaths Reported On Central, South Coasts

The Central and South Coasts had their deadliest day yet during the pandemic, with ten coronavirus related deaths reported in the region Tuesday.

San Luis Obispo County had six deaths, Santa Barbara County two, and Ventura County two.  Ventura County has now had 201 deaths, Santa Barbara County 142, and San Luis Obispo County 52 for a total of 395.

The surge in new cases is continuing, with 878 reported in the region Tuesday.  Ventura County had 487, Santa Barbara County 207, and San Luis Obispo County 184.  The regional total since the start of the pandemic is now approaching the 50,000 mark, with 49,072 cases as of Tuesday night.

The amount of available intensive care unit capacity in the Southern California region, which includes Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties is down to 1.7%.  When it dropped below 15%, it triggered the recent wave of business shutdowns.
