The coronavirus crisis led to bus systems on the Central and South Coasts reducing the number of passengers to try to insure social distancing.

But, one bus system on the South Coast is actually allowing more people on its buses.

Santa Barbara County’s Metropolitan Transit Districtwill now allow up to ten passengers on its 30-foot buses, and 15 people on its 40-foot buses.

It’s still less than half of the capacity of the buses.

Passengers are still required to use masks and socially distance on board the buses.

Boarding and disembarking is still taking place from doors at the middle of the bus, to protect the driver.  The good news for passengers is that as of now, MTD is still providing free service.
