Number Of Confirmed Coronavirus Cases On Central, South Coasts Tops 160

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases on the Central and South Coasts continue to grow, topping 160 Friday.

Ventura County has 61, Santa Barbara County 47, and San Luis Obispo County 59. The new total is 167 diagnosed cases, with one death.

Santa Barbara County jumped from 32 to 47. Dr. Henning Ansorg, who’s Santa Barbara County’s Public Health Officer, says the increase wasn’t a surprise.

He says the good news is that so far there have been no deaths in the county.

Meanwhile, a second civilian Santa Barbara County jail employee has tested positive. The worker is a civilian contractor who helps provide inmate medical services.

Sheriff’s Office officials say the employee had been wearing protective gear, and no other jail staff members or inmates have tested positive, or shown symptoms.
