Unincorporated Area On South Coast To Receive New Community Service District
The unincorporated area of Isla Vista located near UC Santa Barbara will now have a new community service district.
It's a way to decide on key community needs that are normally handled by the third district supervisor's office and the parks and recreation staff.
Isla Vista is a half square mile with over 20,000 people living in the very densely populated area.
Issues involving streetlights, walkways, recreational sites, parking, transit safety, and quality of life concerns have been at the forefront.
Despite that, a utility tax to fund the district was not winning at the end of election night, with some ballots left to be counted.
