KCLU takes home 11 trophies at the 73rd Golden Mike Awards

KCLU's Lance Orozco, Caroline Feraday and Michelle Loxton all took home awards.
The Golden Mikes are the oldest broadcast journalism awards show in America, and honor excellence in broadcast journalism in Southern and Central California.

KCLU won Golden Mikes for “Best Podcast,” “Best News Reporting,” and “Best Live Reporting,” taking home a total of 11 Golden Mikes at the 73rd annual Golden Mikes show. (Most of KCLU’s wins are in Division B, which is for small stations.)

For the first time KCLU was honored for its podcast: The One Oh One. KCLU's Michelle Loxton won two individual Golden Mikes:

The Golden Mikes are the oldest broadcast journalism awards show in America, and honor excellence in broadcast journalism in Southern and Central California.

At the awards show in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 25, the RTNA also honored Marc Brown (KABC), Vikki Vargas (KNBC) and Hal Eisner (KTTV) with “Lifetime Achievement Awards.”

The "Freedom of Information Award" was given to Southern California’s airborne firefighters & helicopter pilots including pilots from Ventura County.
