Dallas Cowboys arrive in Ventura County for 2016 training camp

This is a big week for pro football fans on the South Coast.

The Dallas Cowboys arrived in Ventura County Thursday afternoon for their annual summer training camp in Oxnard. They flew into Naval Base Ventura County where they had a private meet and greet and autograph session for base personnel, and their families.

On Friday, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders will hold a cheerleading camp for young cheerleaders at Pacifica High School. Then, on Saturday afternoon at 3, the camp will hold its opening ceremonies.

The first official practice is set for 3:45 Sunday afternoon.

Attending practices at Oxnard’s River Ridge fields is free, but there is a parking fee. The team will practice in Oxnard through August 18th.

Meanwhile, there are questions about the long term future of the Cowboys training camp in Oxnard. A developer has proposed buying the four acre plus site, a plan the Oxnard City Council is currently considering.
