Mulatto Math: Summing Up the Race Equation in America 7:00pm, The Other Space, 16+

Now more important than ever - an edgy one woman show written and performed by the inimitable Monique DeBose. Through original music and stories of her family’s history, this mixed-race woman (from an African American father from the segregated south and Irish American mother from upstate New York) shares her most vulnerable stories around her exploration of family, race and identity. As an audience member, you get the have the experience of being a fly on the wall for some of the most potent and real conversations from 'the other side'. A heartfelt, funny and intimate look at race and the implications of race-consciousness in America. Yes, it's one woman's story...but audiences from all backgrounds have found themselves and heard their own voices in Monique's story.

Abbey’s Box - A BFF FESTIVAL LOS ANGELES PREMIERE - 7:00 PM, The Other Space, 16+

Living in a box is hard. Abbey knows. She’s tried. But now, Abbey is sick and tired of her box! It’s kept her locked up for 30 years, and it’s ready to explode! In Abbey Glover's debut solo show Abbey's Box, a young woman is determined to break free from the box she has lived in for 30 years (literally), be herself, and find love. Uniquely blending theatre, storytelling, comedy, and clown, Abbey's Box is a funny, moving, and thought-provoking quest for self-acceptance that will resonate with anyone who has ever felt like a bit of an odd duck.

The James Webb Space Telescope is an amazing engineering and technological achievement featuring enabling technology from our local Infrared businesses; Raytheon and Teledyne. Our infrared camera systems; the "eyes" of the telescope; allow JWST to observe the galaxies furthest from Earth; essentially the dawn of our universe. JWST's enabling IR sensors are also used to study star formation; interstellar dust and probe the atmosphere's of exoplanets. Join us to see the breathtaking images; hear about the extraordinary engineering and be tantalized by the mind boggling discoveries.

We are absolutely honored to present the renowned Irish musician, Frankie Gavin, Sunday November 19 at 6pm

Frankie Gavin embraces his role as one of the world’s top traditional Irish fiddlers, amid the dominance of pop, rap, and rock in the music industry. Born in 1956 in Galway, Gavin hails from a musical family and displayed prodigious talent from a young age. He learned music mainly by ear and was influenced by legends like Michael Coleman and James Morrison. Gavin’s journey includes winning prestigious Irish music competitions, forming the iconic band De Dannan in 1973, and recording numerous albums both solo and with collaborators. Despite the evolving music landscape, Gavin remains dedicated to the rich tradition of Irish music.

GCCC’s latest production will feature the usual beautiful carol arrangements and fun holiday cheer. Many songs are brand new, and some are favorites from years gone by. Since this is an anniversary year, we wanted to call special attention to the folks within our Ventura County community who have graced us with beautiful compositions and arrangements. Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine Department invites you to virtually attend its November 2023 presentation.

PRESENTER: Ken Duckworth, MD, Chief Medical Officer of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

Dr. Duckworth will discuss NAMI’s free programs, research and NAMI’s first book, You are Not Alone. NAMI interviewed 130 people who have helped themselves or family members with serious mental health concerns. The method used was designed to elevate the voice of lived experience and to identify real people while reducing shame and isolation, which can be common with mental health and addiction issues.

Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital’s Therapeutic Recreation Services presents a monthly virtual meeting featuring adapted sports, recreation, wellness and inspiring life stories.

Kristina M. Wong, MS, OTR/L, CAPS, SHSS, will share how to create a functional and beautiful space to age gracefully at home. Participants will learn how to modify existing residences in order to live safely and comfortably at home. Discussions will include creating various
livable spaces, including exterior pathways, bathrooms, bedrooms, showers and kitchen areas.

Kristina Wong is a nationally registered and state-licensed occupational therapist with work experience in acute inpatient rehabilitation and outpatient therapies.

Veteran and award-winning stage actor and play director Darryl Maximilian Robinson, Founder, Artistic Director, Producer and Principal Performer of both the multiracial chamber theatres, The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago and The Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project, provides a new and interesting addition to his series of "street theatre"-style renditions of classic poems and dramatic speeches from great literary masters by presenting an edited version of Duke Prospero's "We Are Such Stuff As Dreams Are Made On" Speech from Act IV of William Shakespeare's romantic fantasy "The Tempest" just outside of Gate 11 of the bustling construction site of the highly anticipated new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art at Exposition Park in Los Angeles.


The video rendition is greatly assisted by talented and noted fellow actor Danny Belrose who provides production editing, videography and still photography for Darryl Maximilian Robinson's spontaneous performance selection of Shakespeare at The Lucas Museum site.


Most recently named a winner of a 2022 Making The World Happening Award from Allevents.in for his numerous online theatre-related offerings during the early years of The Covid-19 pandemic, Darryl Maximilian Robinson ( both a 1997 Chicago Joseph Jefferson Citation Award Winner for Outstanding Actor In A Principal Role In A Play for his critically-praised performance as Sam Semela in The Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago revival of Athol Fugard's "Master Harold And The Boys" at The Heartland Cafe Studio Theatre of Rogers Park and a 2015 / 2016 Los Angeles Elate Season Ticket Holder Best Actor Award Nominee for his well-received performance as the debonair but aging leading man Ernest in Tad Mosel's "Impromptu" as part of the production of "Just 4 Fun" at The Lincoln Stegman Theatre in North Hollywood )​ is an experienced Shakespearean actor who during the early days of his nearly 50-year-long ​stage career played leading and featured classical roles with such groups as The National Shakespeare Company Tour of New York The Indianapolis Shakespeare Festival at Garfield Park Amphitheatre, The Bristol Renaissance Faire of Kenosha, Wisconsin, The StagePlayers of Northeastern Illinois University of Chicago, The Chicago City Theatre at the historic Fine Arts Building, The University Players of The University of Missouri-St. Louis and The Goldenrod Showboat of St. Louis Missouri. 


It is also significant to note that for nearly 15 years, from 1987 through 2001, Darryl Maximilian Robinson adapted, directed, starred and toured to multiple venues in multiple cities and states as His Most Revered Lordship, Sir Richard Drury Kemp-Kean in "A Bit of the Bard" an original one-man show of Shakespeare and time-travel comedy which frequently included Prospero's "Such Stuff As Dreams Are Made On" Speech as part of the bill. 


Furthermore, Darryl Maximilian Robinson produced, directed and starred as Prospero in a 1995 Excaliber Shakespeare Company of Chicago multiracial cast revival of "The Tempest" which featured such talented actors as Aaron Watkins as Ariel, Michael McCauley as Lord Sebastian, Samuel L. Brooks as King Alonso and Kevin Adair as Prince Ferdinand at The Hidden Stages Theatre in the Chinatown neighborhood of The Windy City. 


​​​​​A theatre artist who regionally has been involved in more than 250 dramatic and literary arts presentations around the country, Darryl Maximilian Robinson has recorded multiple recent Shakespeare selections at notable outdoor venues in the historic Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles including the Bard's "St. Crispin's Day" Speech from "Henry V" the "Seven Ages of Man" Speech from "As You Like It" and the famed "O Reason Not The Need" Speech from "King Lear."


Like this most recent video rendition of Prospero's "We Are Such Stuff As Dreams Are Made On" Speech from William Shakespeare's "The Tempest" ( recorded at the Exposition Park Lucas Museum of Narrative Art construction site on Tuesday November 7 2023 ), this Excaliber Shakespeare Company Los Angeles Archival Project collection of short Shakespeare videos can be perused by all interested parties at Mr. Robinson's YouTube channel.
