Ventura County's Now Almost Forgotten Hill Brush Fire Close To Containment

The Hill Fire November 8th, burning outside of Newbury Park

While an army of firefighters continues to fight the massive Woolsey brush fire, a second blaze in the region could be contained Thursday.

The Hill Fire started in Ventura County last Thursday, and at one point caused the closure of Highway 101 over the Conejo Grade.

It initially appeared to be the more dangerous of the two fires, threatening a number of homes. But, none were destroyed by the 4500 acre blaze. It’s 94% contained as of Wednesday night, with full containment expected sometime Thursday.

While more than 3600 personnel are assigned to the Woolsey Fire, there are just about 40 looking for hot spots from the Hill Fire.
