Unemployment continues to drop on the Central and South Coast as well as statewide, but California still has one of the highest jobless rates in the nation.
In Ventura County, the percentage of people out of work went from 11.4 % in July to 9.1 % in August. Santa Barbara County’s jobless rate dipped from 10.3% in July to an even 8% in August. And, San Luis Obispo County saw the month-to-month unemployment rate from 10%, to 7.8%.
The statewide figure also showed major improvement, going from 13.9% in July to 11.4% in August. But, the state still has the fifth highest unemployment rate in the nation.
