Old Age Catches Up With Rare Snow Leopard At South Coast Zoo

May 22, 2019

The impacts of age have led to the death of the world’s oldest snow leopard, which lived on the South Coast. Everett lived at the Santa Barbara Zoo. He was nearly 22 years old.

The big cat had a number of medical issues, ranging from hypertension to renal failure, and his declining health lead to the decision to euthanize him. Everett had lived at the zoo since 2011.

His longtime companion at the zoo, Zoe, died earlier this year. The snow leopards were popular residents of the zoo. There’s no word yet on what will happen to their exhibit area.
