A packed room at the Santa Barbara Library brought some of key voices together to help look at solutions for homeless issues.
The Santa Barbara Alliance for Community Transportation cooperated with several agencies, including those dealing with housing, shelter services, police and city leaders.
New information presented showed that 25% of the homeless population are 62 years of age or older, while th average as is 51.
58% of the population had emotional, physical, or sexual trauma in their lives.
There were also a signification population living in their cars.
When it came to the number of beds available for use in the Santa Barbara area, they say there are 772 beds in total, and most are full.
That means more are needed, and with millions of dollars in federal funds coming to California for homeless issues, work is underway to provide more shelters, day centers, housing options, medical assesments, and other services.
Another count of the number of homeless people in the area will take place in January.
