Los Padres National Forest Gets Land Donation; 800 Acres On Central Coast

Nov 18, 2019

The Los Padres National Forest is now a little bit larger, thanks to the work of a non-profit land trust. The Wilderness Land Trust has transferred three pieces of land in San Luis Obispo County to the National Park Service. The Trout Creek properties are near Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach, and San Luis Obispo.

The 800 acres of land is considered to be vital habitat for deer, bears, mountain lions, falcons, and other animals. The trust buys land in wilderness areas from willing sellers, using private donations and foundation money, and then donates it to government agencies for permanent preservation.
