Latest Numbers Show Little Change In Unemployment Numbers For Central, South Coasts

Just released state unemployment numbers show little monthly change on the Central and South Coasts.

The State Employment Development Department released January's numbers Friday.

Ventura County's 7.4% jobless rate in December remained unchanged in January.

Santa Barbara County's total went up slightly, from 7.3% in December to 7.7% in January.  And, San Luis Obispo County held steady for both months at 6.7%.

The state as a whole showed some improvement, dipping from 9.3% unemployment in December to 9% even in January.  But, it's more than double the 4.2% pre-pandemic number for the state in January of 2020.
