Santa Ana Winds Increasing Fire Danger For Parts Of South Coasts; Localized Power Shutoffs Possible

We could see some potentially dangerous wind conditions which could increase the wildfire danger for parts of the South Coast over the holiday weekend.

A trough moving onto the West Coast could create Santa Ana winds in Ventura and Los Angeles Counties Thursday afternoon into Friday night.

A red flag warning is expected to be in place for most of Ventura County and parts of LA County from 2 p.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday.  Meteorologists say they expect a moderate Santa Ana wind event.

Southern California Edison officials have notified around 13,000 customers in some rural areas of Ventura County they could potentially face Public Safety Power Shutoffs as a precaution against brush fires.  The warnings are for areas outside of Santa Paula, Fillmore, Camarillo, Moorpark, and Simi Valley.
