Red Flag Warning For Parts Of South Coast; High Brush Fire Danger

Parts of the South Coast are seeing some of the potentially most dangerous Santa Ana wind conditions of the year.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect for much of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties from midnight Sunday to 6 p.m. Tuesday.  Winds gusts could hit 50 miles an hour on the coast, and 80 miles an hour inland.  The strongest wind is expected Monday.

The wind isn’t elected to reach watch or warning levels in Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo Counties.

Southern California Edison officials say some Public Safety Power Shutoffs are possible in Ventura County.  About 17,000 customers in Simi Valley, Moorpark, Camarillo, Santa Paula and Fillmore have been notified about possible shutoffs.  The shutoffs are intended to prevent the start of wildfires from downed power lines during high wind events.
