Containment Is Up To 65% On Brush Fire In Ventura County

The Holser Fire burning near Lake Piru in Ventura County Monday night. The fire is now in the mopup phase.

Firefighters now have 65% containment of a brush fire which at one point had threatened some homes in Ventura County.

The Holser Fire has burned more than 3,000 acres of land in a remote area of the county northeast of Piru.  It started Monday afternoon, in the Holser Canyon area near Lake Piru.  It initially threatened about two dozen homes, and prompted some evacuation orders.

However, firefighters were able to protect the structures, and the fire moved away from the community.  Only about 40 firefighters are still on scene doing mopup work.  Firefighters say the blaze was triggered by a vehicle fire.
