A Goleta church and preschool were damaged Monday night by what was later determined to be an arson fire

A teenager has been arrested for a string of fires on the South Coast, including one which heavily damaged a church complex.

Santa Barbara County firefighters were called to a Goleta neighborhood by reports of a fire just before midnight Monday.

The Growing Babies Preschool and Infant Center and the adjacent Church of Religious Science were heavily damaged by the flames before firefighters could control the blaze.

Firefighters were then called to some trash can fires in the same area a few hours later.

Investigators determined all of the fires were intentionally set. They identified a teenage boy as a suspect and arrested him for the incidents.
