Fund Distributes More Than $680,000 To South Coast Nonprofits; Seniors, Libraries Get Funding

A community fund on the South Coast has announced more than $680,000 in grants to non-profits in Santa Barbara County.

The Women’s Fund of Santa Barbara is targeting the funding to support the efforts of nine different local groups.

The funding includes $100,000 to the Santa Barbara Public Library Foundation, for a mobile library van.

$90,000 was allocated to the Santa Barbara Education Foundation, for a suicide prevention program for public schools. The Women’s Fund also gave $100,000 to beef up health care for seniors living in public housing.

Since 2004, the fund has given nearly $8 million dollars to more than 110 nonprofits in the region.
