Coronavirus Crisis Prompts Service Reductions By Central Coast Transit System

A Central Coast transit system is the latest in the region to announce service cutbacks as a result of the coronavirus crisis. Santa Maria Area Transit will begin using its more limited weekend service schedule seven days a week. The new schedule takes effect on Wednesday, and applies to all eight SMAT routes.

The transit system will continue to provide specialized services for those with disabilities. It will also offer limited shuttle service on weekdays outside of the new schedule to accommodate people who need to travel in the early morning or evening hours. The weekday shuttle service is by appointment only.
