Work is officially set to start Thursday on a long sought new fire station in Ventura County. The Ventura County Fire Department is getting a new 8,000 square foot complex in Ojai. It will replace a small, outdated facility which is more than 60 years old.

The new station will be at 12000 Santa Paula-Ojai Road, about a half mile west of the current building. The new $7.3 million dollar facility is on a 2.3 acre site.

The plan is to have the complex ready for use by early 2021.
