Talented Talking Parrot Makes Decorations For Animal Shelter In Ventura County

A talented talking parrot in protective custody at a South Coast animal shelter is helping to decorate it. The parrot has been making holiday decorations. Smokey is an African Grey Parrot living at the Humane Society of Ventura County’s Ojai shelter.

Smokey is temporarily living at the shelter as part of a possible abuse investigation.

Greg Cooper, with the Humane Society, say they recently discovered Smokey can do more than talk. He would shred papers in his cage. So, the shelter team put folded paper in the cage, which he would shred. When the paper is unfolded, it looks like the paper snowflakes we used to make in school as kids.

They’re using Smokey’s snowflakes to decorate the shelter.
