Storm Drops Some Locally Heavy Rainfall, But No Major Issues For Central And South Coasts

A storm system passing though the Central and South Coasts dropped as much as three inches of rain in parts of the region, but didn’t cause any major flooding or debris flow issues in brush fire burn zones. The heaviest rainfall was in Ventura County, where some isolated mountain areas topped three inches of rainfall.

Westlake Village had 1.48” of rain, Newbury Park 1.37”, Oxnard 1.35”, and La Conchita .76”. In the mountains, Pine Mountain Inn recorded 3.12” of rain, while Old Man Mountain had 2.32”.

In Santa Barbara County, Carpinteria had .58”, Santa Barbara 1.15”, San Marcos pass 1.32”, Solvang .97”, and Santa Maria .41”. And, in San Luis Obispo County, Nipomo had .48” of rainfall, Pismo Beach .70", and San Luis Obispo 1.19”.

Another storm is expected to move into the region Friday night, and hang around for the weekend. But even lighter rainfall is predicted, with less than a half inch of rain expected south of Point Conception.
