Handful Of South Coast Power Customers Impacted By Intentional Outages Tuesday Afternoon

(Updated at 7 p.m.)

There were only a handful of power customers impacted by public safety power shutoffs in Ventura County Tuesday afternoon, but that number could increase if winds pick up as predicted Tuesday night.

Southern California Edison reports that only about 40 customers in the county were affected during the day Tuesday, but nearly 45,000 were warned they could experience outages.  The number of people on standby for outages grew to more than 78,000 by 7 Tuesday night.

Some 300,000 customers are on the potential shutoff list throughout the Edison network. Edison doesn’t have any of its service area in Santa Barbara County on the potential shutoff list at this time.  You can find a link to Edison's outages here.

PG&E isn’t listing any of its service areas in Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo Counties on its potential shutoff lists at this time.
