Potentially Dangerous Wind In Forecast For South Coast; Brush Fire Danger Expected To Increase

We are seeing a break from high winds on the Central and South Coasts Tuesday morning, but potentially dangerous Santa Ana winds are predicted to come roaring back into the region Tuesday night. A Red Flag Warning is in the forecast for parts of Ventura and Los Angeles Counties from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 6 p.m. Thursday.

Gusts from 50 to 80 miles an hour are possible, with the strongest wind predicted for Wednesday night. As with the last few wind events, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties will have some gusty wind as well, but it’s not expected to reach Red Flag Warning levels.

The number of Southern California Edison customers on notice for potential public safety power outages in Ventura County dropped from more than 80,000 Monday to about 45,000 Tuesday morning. But with more wind expected, that number could expand again later Tuesday.
