Potentially Dangerous Brush Fire Conditions In Forecast For South Coast

The October 10th Wendy brush fire in Ventura County, which charred about 90 acres of land south of Newbury Park

Some potentially dangerous brush fire conditions could hit the Central and South Coasts this week. The biggest concern is for Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. The forecast is for a mild Santa Ana wind event through Tuesday.  Then, on Thursday and Friday, there could be much stronger wind, possibly reaching Red Flag Warning levels.

The relative humidity could drop below 10% for parts of the South Coast by the end of the week.

But, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties could also have brief periods of extreme fire danger, with moderate wind.

At this point Monday night, there are no Public Safety Power Shutoffs listed by Southern California Edison for Ventura, or Santa Barbara Counties, but that could change as the winds increase later this week.
