Authorities Confirm Actor's Wife Is Murder Victim In Santa Barbara County; Son Was Suspect

Actor Ron Ely, who played "Tarzan" in a 1960's TV series

Authorities are now confirming that it was the family of a famous Hollywood actor which was rocked by tragedy in Santa Barbara County. A domestic dispute left Ron Ely’s wife dead, and their son, who was the suspect in the attack, shot to death by sheriff’s deputies.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies were called to a home on the 4000 block of Mariposa Drive in Hope Ranch just after 8 Tuesday night by reports of a domestic disturbance. They found the body of a woman in the home, and an elderly man who was unhurt.

The man was actor Ron Ely, and the woman, his wife Valerie Lundeen Ely. Sheriff’s deputies say the suspect in the attack was the Ely’s son, Cameron Ely. They found him on the home’s property. Investigators say he posed a threat to officers. Four deputies opened fire, fatally wounding the 30 year old. It’s unclear as to whether he was armed.

The actor is perhaps known for his role as “Tarzan” in a 1960’s TV series.
