Driver Leads CHP Officers On Wild Chase In Santa Barbara County; Later Escapes On Foot

A driver with a car with an expired license plate refused to stop for CHP officers, leading them on a chase in Santa Barbara County. It started just before 10 Wednesday night on northbound Highway 101 at Turnpike Road in Goleta.

When the CHP unit tried to stop the car, the driver refused to stop, and got off the freeway and onto some surface streets. The chase hit 80 miles an hour at times.

The driver eventually turned onto North Ontare Road in Santa Barbara. The car stopped at the end of the dead end street, and the driver got out and ran into some woods. Officers were unable to find him. The car was impounded, and officers hope it will lead them to the driver.
