Ventura County Reaches Settlement With Company Over Toxic Pollution Allegations

Ventura County prosecutors say they’ve reached a half million dollar settlement with a metal fabrication company over the improper disposal of some hazardous waste. Prosecutors say for a more than six month period in 2016, Arcturus Manufacturing took toxic wastes to recycling centers in Oxnard and Ventura which were not equipped to handle them.

The settlement resolves allegations that Arcturus violated laws regarding the storage, and disposal of hazardous wastes. The settlement calls for Arcturus to pay $500,000 in civil penalties, and to comply with California environmental laws.

The company still operates in Texas, but closed down its California operations in 2017.
