Man Fatally Wounded On South Coast; Suspect Arrested On Murder Charge

Police say a man was fatally wounded on the South Coast in what may have been a domestic disturbance. Oxnard Police were called to the 1000 block of Berkshire Street just before midnight Friday by reports of someone who had been shot.

Officers found a 40 year old man who had been shot in the chest. The arriving officers and paramedics tried to save the man, but he died at the scene. His name hasn’t been released yet.

As officers investigated what happened, they arrested a man at the scene for murder. Jaime Villarreal was taken into custody without incident. Detectives are still trying to determine exactly what happened, but say officers had been called to the same house earlier Friday night over a domestic disturbance.
