He called it self-defense. But, a jury decided it was murder. Now, a Ventura County Superior Court judge has sentenced Christopher Gaston to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the June, 2016 shooting death of Christopher Camper.
Prosecutors say Gaston drove up to an Oxnard bus stop where Camper was sitting, and shot him to death. Gaston claimed that he shot Camper in self-defense, but investigators say the victim wasn’t armed. A jury convicted Gaston of first-degree murder, finding that the killing was premeditated.
The two men knew each other, and had a past confrontation.
