South Coast Man Arrested In Stolen Car Resale Scam

A Ventura County man is facing criminal charges after detectives say he was behind a scam selling stolen cars online, with the help of a popular app.

Investigators with the Ventura County Auto Theft Task Force say they identified Timothy White Peterson as the main suspect in a multi-vehicle scam in the county.

Detectives say he found unsuspecting buyers online using an app which helps people to sell items to each other. They say his victims didn’t know the vehicles they were buying were actually stolen.

Investigators are looking for more potential victims of the Port Hueneme man.
