New Fire Restrictions For Los Padres National Forest Intended To Cut Brush, Forest Fire Danger

Hotter weather is prompting new fire restrictions for the Los Padres National Forest. Starting Saturday, no open fires, campfires, or charcoal fires are being allowed in the forest except for in designated recreation sites and official campgrounds.

People with California Campfire permits will be allowed to use lanterns and portable stoves throughout the forest. And, smoking in the Los Padres Forest is limited to be people in vehicles, buildings, official campgrounds, and in barren areas cleared of all flammable materials.

The measures are intended to help reduce the brush and forest fire danger.
