Containment Up To 85% On Blaze In Los Padres National Forest

Containment is now up to 85% on a brush fire burning in a remote area of the Los Padres National Forest.

The Ogilvy Fire started Saturday afternoon in the rugged mountains northeast of Gibraltar Reservoir, and has charred about 175 acres of land.

Smoke from the fire was visible from the Santa Barbara area. Because of the rugged terrain, aircraft are playing a key role in fighting the fire. Some jumbo jet chemical retardant drops helped keep the blaze from spreading.

About 300 people are involved in fighting the fire. No structures are threatened. Because of the remote area of the blaze, full containment could still be a few days away.
