Two Arrested For Vehicle Theft On South Coast; Not A Car Or Truck, But A Tractor

Two people in Ventura County are facing vehicle theft charges, bit what makes it unusual is what they’re accused of stealing. Ventura County Sheriff’s detectives say the duo stole a tractor.

On June 14th, the owner left a mini-tractor parked on a construction site outside of Santa Paula. When the victim returned to the Briggs Road site the following Monday, the tractor was gone.

But, it was equipped with a GPS device, which showed it was in Phoenix. Detectives say Sam Reyes and Vanessa Lopez of Oxnard stole the tractor, and listed it for sale on an online website.

An Arizona resident saw the ad, bought the tractor, and took it back to Phoenix. The two Oxnard residents are facing grand theft, obtaining property under false pretenses, as well as additional charges.
