Shots Fired In South Coast Neighborhood; Man Arrested After Standoff

A volley of shots rattled a South Coast neighborhood and closed a major street, but no one was hurt. Oxnard Police received calls at about 9:30 Thursday  morning about gunfire in an apartment complex on the 1400 block of Victoria Avenue.

Police say the shots came from the second floor of an apartment complex. Officer shut down a portion of Victoria, and told people to stay in their apartments. It turned into a 90 minute standoff, with a man surrendering at about 11 a.m.

While no one was hurt, officers say a nearby apartment complex and a police vehicle were hit by bullets. The name of the man who was arrested hasn’t been released.
