Oxnard Police Officer Injured During Arrest

A South Coast police officer is recovering from injuries he recovered while helping to make an arrest over the weekend. Oxnard Police were called to the 100 block of South E Street just before 11 Saturday night by reports of gang members gathered in a vacant apartment. Officers say they tried to stop Robert Narvarro as he fled the scene.

There was a foot chase, and when officers caught up the 28 year old man, he fought with them. One of the officers suffered a cut on the hand. They say during the chase, the Oxnard man toss away a handgun which was recovered.

Navarro was arrested on charges he was a felon illegally in possession of a gun, carrying a concealed weapon, and causing an injury to an officer.
