Bill To Improve Brush Fire Preparedness Authored By State Senator From Santa Barbara Advances

The Hill Fire burning in Ventura County in November of 2018

A bill by a Santa Barbara legislator intended to improve long term brush fire preparedness has taken a big step forward in Sacramento. The State Senate passed SB 182. It’s a proposed law which would require local governments to limit development in high risk brush fire areas, and to take steps to improve the safety of existing at-risk structures.

The bill by Democratic State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson of Santa Barbara now goes to the State Assembly for consideration.
